This .25 mile area is prime real estate for any convenience store with pay at pump gas: Commuters from Durham and Raleigh heading into or out of Chapel Hill rely on this critical little spot as it's the most-used access to UNC/Chapel Hill/Pittsboro via the Fordham Blvd/15-501 on-ramp for drivers wise to the popular non-interstate shortcut linking Raleigh-Durham to Chapel Hill: 54/Raleigh Road is congested, and will worsen dramatically in the fall with the completion of several new high density condo/apt home developments. Cruizers/Exxon is one of two stores able to benefit grandly by its position here. It's easiest to reach Cruizers/Exxon. But the parking lot is unusually small and the location offers just six pumps at 3 closely set spots in a narrow section parallel to the storefront. Because there are limited pumps in a short line, drivers must jostle for spots by attempting to carefully navigate a very narrow space.
