Circle K in Mesa (6005 E Mckellips Rd)

I walked in to this Circle K on Thanksgiving Day this last November to see a line of about 9 or 10 customers all the way to the back of the store. The manager was the only worker there. I’ve been going to this Circle K for years. This store has been robbed at least twice since I started frequenting it 10 years ago. But on that Thanksgiving day, something got the line backed way up. I instantly recalled some of the worst days from when I worked fast food, and retail, when there was obviously a catastrophic shortage of staff. The stress and anxiety that came with those shifts. On that November holiday, one or two of those Circle K customers even said something casually to the affect of forgiveness, and one asked if one of the pumps was malfunctioning, sighing heavily and wishing her the best, anyhow. “I know it’s tough out there- I’m on my 17th hour straight, here alone!” she called out with a genuine and gracious smile on her face.
