New feature enables drivers to save more while filling up with never-before-available discounts at gas station convenience stores

April 14, 2015 (Gaithersburg, MD) - GasBuddy, the leading price-comparison app that helps users find cheap gas, today announced a new version of its award-winning app. The latest version enables users to save even more money at the pump with exclusive coupons.

Everyday GasBuddy helps millions of drivers find cheapest gas station to fuel up. For the first time, consumers will receive additional discounts beyond gas. GasBuddy Coupons will provide consumer savings on favorite items such as beverages, snacks and other essentials and can be redeemed at participating gas stations' convenience stores.

"We are continuing our mission to help people save money while on the go," said Jason Toews, co-founder of GasBuddy. "Drivers turn to GasBuddy daily to ensure they are not overpaying at the pump. With 35 percent of gas customers also going into the store, coupons are an additional value we wanted to provide. This will give our users more opportunities to save while they fill up."

Currently there are over 10 retailers participating in the Coupon Portal, including, BellStores, Corner Store, Common Cents, Rutter's Farm Stores and On the Run. Participating brands include those from Quaker Oats, Prestige Brands, ConAgra Foods and Twang Partners.

New coupons will be available regularly. Consumers are encouraged to check their GasBuddy app often for updated offers.

This month, GasBuddy also celebrates its 15th anniversary. The website launched in April 2000 and from the beginning, used the power of the crowd to gather retail gas price information, collectively helping each other pay less. GasBuddy is the pioneer of crowdsourced data and building a passionate community. Since then, crowdsourcing has expanded and is now used to collect various forms of data, from meteorology to finding clean public restrooms.

"When we started GasBuddy the term 'crowdsource' hadn't even been invented and the idea of crowdsourced data was a completely foreign concept," said Toews. "The past 15 years has been an exciting ride. We launched multiple versions, added innovative new features and collected a breadth of data. GasBuddy would not exist without its community of passionate people who are dedicated to sharing and helping their fellow drivers find the best gas deals across the nation."
